- Nishchay Tamulum: The first and foremost event at the Kannada household is the engagement ceremony known as nishchay tamulum. Few days prior to the wedding unlike the Lingyat Matrimony there is a Puja performed by both the households known as Nandi ceremony in which aarti with the help of Kalash is performed. Then after offering the first invitation card to God distribution of invitation are performed. It is believed that it is the first announcement of the wedding ceremony and from then marriage rituals begins. At some of the households prior to the wedding the bride went to the groom’s family where she is being offered an ancestral piece of jewellery that is symbolic to represent the blessings of the ancestors upon the bride.
- Havan Ceremony: On the wedding day an auspicious ritual of Havan is performed at both the households for the blessings purposes on both the bride as well as the groom. The bride wears a traditional Navari sari as well as clad her arms with beautiful green glass bangles as per their tradition whereas the groom clad himself in white colored dhoti and angvastram which is traditional according to them. He also holds a wooden stick in his right hand as per the custom and it is blessed with the holy place. - KaashiYatre: A very humorous event during which the groom will pretend to be angry with his family members as they didn’t find kannada brides for him. He threatens of going to the holy land of Kashi and this is where the girl’s hands are presented to him
