In Bengali tradition, a wedding is arranged by Ghotoks, the friends and relatives of the couple. Bengali weddings have four parts: the bride's Gaye Holud, groom's Gaye Holud, Beeye, and Bou Bhaat. The rituals on wedding day start with welcoming the groom with baran dala. Saat Paak, when the bride is seated on a wooden plank and lifted by her brothers is an important ritual of wedding. She's taken around the groom seven times to signify their union. In the Sampradhan, paternal and maternal uncles of the bride give her to the groom. Saptadi is the next ritual.
