Marital rituals begin with the Tilak ceremony where male members of the bride's family go to the groom's house and the her brother applies tilak on the groom's forehead. The groom is also presented with a sword and other presents. The tilak ceremony is followed by the Ganapathi Sthapana and Griha Shanti ceremonial rituals. The Pithi Dastoor ceremony follows next where the bride and groom are applied turmeric and sandalwood paste. Pithi in the bride's place involve dholans or lady singers with dholaks. Mahira dastoor is a custom which only Kshatriyas follow where the maternal uncle of each side provides gifts to the bride's and groom's families.
